The 15 Minute Apple 1993
Rick sez: This least intentional album is arguably the best. There were no complicated attempts at recording or being a band. It was just a keyboard, a mic, a lot of improv and Pierre & Yosh at their best. The sound quality is about what you would expect from such a setup, but it is audible thanks to the lack of any mix-downs or other instruments.
The album was created by Pierre & Yosh to get me angry because I skipped out on hanging out one day to go on a date with a chick who I was infatuated with for some reason even though she had 8 other boyfriends. I was stupid, but I'm glad. If I wasn't stupid, this album never would have happened.
I think that was what made this album great, and if I could do it all over again, I would have used this album as the template for all our others. We weren't trying to be a band, we were just being goofy, and that's why it works.
"Llama" and "Apples" are the biggest "hits" of the album (with "Apples" making a return on Inspected by 7), but I am particularly fond of "Lobster Butt" and "Sad But True at the Same Time". The album was released on a very small cassette tape (15 minutes perhaps?) and was labeled "Side 5" and "Side 1,000,000".
